Sannum Habibullah Kabooro is a Gender Justice and Climate Activist from Jamshoro, Sindh, Pakistan. She is a GBV survivor, as a single mother had faced social injustice with woman which led her to fight for the rights of women.
Sannum is the founder of the “Step in Movement,” an eco-friendly drive for education. Through this initiative, she collects discarded materials, such as colorful charts and decoration materials, from private schools and volunteers. The collected items are used to decorate local primary public schools, creating a self-sustainable eco- friendly school renovation drive. Schools buy tons of sheets and stationaries that are discarded, Sannum with her team collects the material and recycle it for under privileged school children.
Under Climate and gender Justice Sannum has been delivering trainings to govt school teachers about pyscho-social support trainings to the children who faced abuse during floods in Sindh. Sannum inspires local teachers and headmasters to collect funds and provide quality work with minimal resources. Sannum is passionate about integrating recycling into art, inspired by the cachi kulhi community straw crafts, and assists government school teachers in incorporating recycling into their art subjects.
Sannum and her team tirelessly distributed food, sanitary pads and medicines to the women in the camps. She conducted sessions in the camps to raise awareness on the menstrual health. Her appearence on TV and Radio makes her voice heard to far rural areas to raise awareness on women’s wellbeing and climate changes in region as one issue.
